More on Flooding in Missouri

AP:
Raging Midwest Rivers Continue Record Rise Following Storm; At Least 16 Killed

FENTON, Missouri — Flooding from rainstorms blamed for at least 16 deaths threatened to worsen Friday, with many Midwestern rivers over their banks for more than a day already and the water level climbing.

...

Parts of Missouri got a foot of rain over a 36-hour period this week, causing widespread flash flooding and swelling many rivers. Five deaths have been confirmed in Missouri and hundreds of people were forced from their homes. Many families will return to find their property badly damaged or destroyed.

It Won't Stop Raining

It's been a downpour for more than 24 hours. Two more have died (total 4) in our state since this report was issued:

Two people died, roads were closed and hundreds of people fled from their homes Tuesday as torrential rains caused widespread flooding in Missouri.

Heavy rain began falling Monday and just kept coming. Forecasters were calling for up to 5 inches of additional rain in parts of the state, some of which had already seen 7 inches by midday.

...

Near Springfield, a Missouri Department of Transportation worker was killed Tuesday morning as he helped out in a flooded area. SEMA said the worker, identified as 21-year-old Joshua Slatten of Springfield, was setting up barriers along U.S. 65 when his dump truck was struck by a semi.

Creeks have crested their banks, fields and yards look like lakes, storm drains are full and spouting like fountains, roads are flooded.

Palm Sunday

Palm Sunday, the beginning of the week of our Lord's Passion. It leads to mankind's low point, the crucifixion of Jesus, on Friday, followed by history's high point, His resurrection next Sunday. Praise God for His great love that we reflect upon at this time of year ... and hopefully throughout the year.

What a wonderful Savior.

Walking Again

Winter is retreating. Walked three times this past week. Last night after I got home from work I headed to the nearby trail with my camera along. Took these four shots on that walk.
