Fireflies Come Out on First Day of Summer
More thunderstorms today. With a clear, cool evening, the fireflies came out in force. It's the first day of summer so it was still light until about 9. Perky was fascinated with the fireflies.
Visual Bookshelf
This is a Facebook application that lets you list and review books. I'll be adding a sampling of books I have read a little at a time, with no planned order.

Tornado Touches Down in Springfield
When tornado sirens sounded yesterday afternoon, I headed to the basement with all the other employees from our building. We were there half an hour or so. We later learned that a tornado touched down up the street, tearing through a couple of businesses. The roof collapsed on a building full of people but they were all in the tornado shelter so no one was hurt.
HQ, where I work, is on central Division Street. The tornado touched down on east Division. They're calling it a micro-burst. Kind of came out of nowhere, then went away fast.
Peggy and her mom were out during the warning but got home safe. Big winds hit the southeast side of town, knocking down hundreds of trees, including some old giants, and damaging homes and property.
T-storm rain all night further saturated the ground causing a lot of casual pooling.

Flash Flood Hits Springfield!
Southwest Springfield, Missouri. The bad weather came our way last night. We had unrelenting thunderstorms for about 16 straight hours. Flooding all over Springfield. Our neighborhood is among the worst hit areas. We have had almost 7 inches of rain today. They were still trying to rescue three teens who were trapped in a tree in the middle of this normally little stream, South Creek, just down from our house. They unsuccessfully brought in Sea-Doos to try to get to them but eventually rescued them another way.
