Great Blue Drying Wings

Peggy and I walked at the Springfield Nature Center on Friday. This great blue heron stalks the same hunting grounds regularly. The last time I was there I shot him after a watery commotion with a large fish in his mouth. This time he was drying his wings. It's quite a distance, even for my zoom, so the shots are not that clear.

Olympics Opening Ceremony

A massive presentation that included a lot of religious, political, and philosophical propaganda. Very impressive nonetheless. Especially the final Olympic champion torchbearer who walked on air around the entire stadium before lighting the main torch in spectacular fashion.

Just walked outside. It's a sweatbox at 10:20 at night. 85 degrees and humid. Reached a heat index of at least 110 today.

Heat with humidity that makes it hard to breathe. I walked last night after 8 p.m. for 45 minutes and was totally drained.

She's having a good time in Oregon. She is rafting today for the second consecutive day on the Rogue River. She gets home late tomorrow night.
