Job Well Done

We're patting ourselves on the back. Peggy and I are both very tired but very thankful and satisfied after holding a garage sale at Peggy's parents' house to coincide with the annual neighborhood sale. A lot of larger items went that we will not have to lift again.

Peggy's mom is living happily at Maranatha but we still have the house to deal with ... and a housing market at rock bottom. But yesterday and today helped us accomplish quite a lot that we will not now have to deal with when we sell the house.

They had more than 1700 in bloom at one time. Peggy, her mom and I stopped by after church last Sunday.

Prayer Request

I have received an urgent prayer request from two of our closest friends, Bill and Almie Sparling. I know some of you who follow this blog know them. For those of you who don't, they are very close friends who were with us when we pastored in Davis, California. Bill was our worship leader, a wonderful keyboard player and talented, anointed singer who was a huge blessing to the church and to us. Almie is a prayer warrior who somehow keeps Bill on the straight and narrow. We love them both very much.

The request is for their granddaughter, Justine. She needs healing.

So for all of you who read this and know how to pray, please lift Justine before the Lord.

Earthquake Hits Midwest

A magnitude 5.2 earthquake rocked the Midwest early this morning. It was felt here in southwest Missouri as well as from Kansas to Georgia. We were asleep and felt nothing. But, then again, we're from California. Earthquakes don't impress us.

Deer in a Surprising Place

Peggy and I were taking a break outside the conference center when she shouted she saw deer in the graveyard. I got these two quick shots before they were gone.

Girard, Kansas

Friday and Saturday Peggy and I were at a writers' conference in Girard, Kansas where I was one of the speakers. It was a great bunch of people. The ruins of this church were next to the location of the conference.
